Job Summary:

The primary job responsibility of the Instructional Technologist will be to provide technical development, management, and support for faculty and staff, utilizing instructional technology.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field preferred.

Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year related experience.
  • General computer skills required.
  • Experience with commonly used multimedia technologies required.
  • Experience with video editing required.
  • Experience in end-user training and support required.
  • Willingness to investigate, test, and provide solutions for technology issues required.
  • Proficiency with Canvas required.
  • Experience with multimedia and web development software required.
  • Experience creating an instructional media center preferred.
  • Experience at an intermediate/advanced level of multimedia programming/design/production including video production preferred.
  • Experience or training in graphic design and web page/web applications development preferred.
  • Experience with synchronous and asynchronous tools for course delivery preferred.
  • Experience with designing and supporting classroom a/v hardware preferred.
  • Experience with instructional technology vendor relations and project management preferred.

Essential Duties:

  • Serve as primary technical support for faculty and staff, utilizing classroom and online technology.
  • Develop interactive online instructional tutorials, demonstrations, and training materials for faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate with colleges and departments to identify and test new technology solutions.
  • Participate in training to keep current in emerging instructional technology.
  • Create instructional materials utilizing audio, video, multimedia, web, software animation, and graphics.
  • Coordinate with vendors and faculty on instructional technology projects and manage them to their conclusion under direction of the Director of the KCTL.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to ten pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
