Position Highlights

The Management Information Systems Department (MIS) at the Eller College of Management is searching for a professional with effective communication and strong team skills to join the department as an in-person/on-site Graduate Admissions Coordinator. This position will perform activities related to the recruitment, evaluation, and selection of graduate students seeking entrance into the MSMIS and doctoral main campus programs and MIS online graduate programs. The Admissions Professional II establishes, fosters and maintains strong relationships with prospective graduate students to lead them from the point of inquiry through their enrollment into the program.

Serving as the first point of contact for prospective graduate students navigating the application and admissions process, this position requires a positive attitude, exceptional customer service, and the ability to take initiative. This position will coordinate, review and engage in recruitment activities, MS MIS orientation, and scheduling of classes, as well as monitoring doctoral student progress toward degree completion, posting GTA/TA job opportunities, and working closely with the MIS Student Services team, the MS Admissions Committee, and the Eller College of Management Graduate Career Development team. Possessing a high degree of openness to new approaches and new ideas with the ability to learn quickly is key for this position. A high level of administrative/coordinative support, interpersonal skills, technical competency, dedication to a team approach, personal accountability, accuracy, timeliness, and excellent oral and written communication are hallmarks of the ideal candidate.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary point of contact for potential graduates students, responding to inquires in a timely and professional manner by email, phone, and through web based systems.
  • Maintain regular, strategic communications with prospective students to encourage continued interest and increase the probability of application submission.
  • Effectively communicates to a broad range of constituents the requirements and the procedures for admissions.
  • Contributes to and promotes a positive, welcoming, and highly supportive environment for all prospective and current students.
  • Facilitates and coordinates application review with Graduate Admissions Committee, communication of admissions decisions, and monitors seat fee.
  • Organize and execute new student orientation.
  • Learns and utilizes the CRM software to track and record prospective student interactions and progress through the admissions funnel.
  • Stays abreast of Graduate College Admission policies and procedures.
  • Uses Microsoft Excel and other software to continuously track application status, admission decisions, and admission statistics.
  • Provides status reports to Graduate Admissions Committee throughout the admissions cycle.
  • Coordinates admissions data collection and submits periodic reports on graduate programs, providing input regarding prospective student data (such as admission statistics) for department reporting requirements.
  • Identifies innovative ways to successfully promote the master's programs to increase interest.
  • Coordinates, conducts, and/or participates in virtual or in-person events such as information sessions, webinars, fairs, and other recruitment related events.
  • Assists in maintaining programs admissions website pages to keep information accurate and up to date.
  • Collaborates with graduate MIS Student Services team and MIS Graduate Admissions Committee on preparation for the start of the application cycle, screening of applications, and on-boarding of matriculated students.
  • Monitors doctoral student progress toward degree completion and coordinates with student, advisor, and Graduate College, completion of degree requirements.
  • Facilitates and coordinates with business office and faculty, assistantship postings and applications for the department.
  • Coordinate and inputs department's schedule of classes, submits and monitors curriculum changes and course additions.
  • Assists in departmental events, initiatives, and outreach to organizations as needed.
  • Assists the Communications and Events Coordinator with recruitment related social media content creation.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Demonstrated organization skills, customer-centric planning, attention to detail, and high degree of openness to new approaches and new ideas.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recruiting and/or admissions in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with prospective graduate level student population and university personnel (i.e.; faculty, administrators, staff) in both written and oral formats.
  • Experience building spreadsheets within Excel.
  • Experience with University Systems like GradApp, UAccess, Slate.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
