Institutional Research Analyst
McKendree University, located in Lebanon, IL, invites applicants for the position of Institutional Research Analyst. This is an on-campus, full-time position and is eligible for competitive compensation and benefit package.
Reporting to and assisting the Dean of Academic Records and Registrar, the Institutional Research Analyst will be responsible for managing the collection, storage, reporting, and dissemination of institutional data in accordance with university guidelines; submitting university responses to external surveys, including IPEDS and US News and World Report, among others; producing the annual McKendree University Fact Book; providing data analysis and reports to aid in institutional planning; producing data to assist academic units completing accreditation reports; assisting with the assessment of student learning outcomes, creating courses, sections, academic plans, etc. in the student information system (Ellucian), processing student forms, Commencement and graduation activities, greeting students, faculty, and staff, and aid with problem resolutions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Institutional Research
- Manage the collection, storage, reporting, and dissemination of institutional data in accordance with university guidelines; such as submitting university responses to external surveys (e.g., IPEDS, US News and World Report), producing data reports and analysis to aid in institutional planning, administering and/or collaborating in the administration of institution-level surveys, and producing the annual McKendree University Fact Book.
- Administer university-wide data collection (e.g., fall student survey, general education rubrics, etc.) for the purpose of student learning outcomes assessment.
- Provide data as requested by various departments for accreditation, required external reports, research projects, or other approved purposes.
Records Management
- Assist the Dean of Academic Records and Registrar in the creation of course sections each term.
- Assist with creation and modification of programs, courses, and course requirements for Program Evaluations and copy the system catalog each year.
- Create and maintain document setup within the communications management module for outgoing correspondence within the office. Ensure that queries necessary for document processing are working correctly and update as necessary.
- Serve as the administrator for course scheduling software.
- Post academic probation/suspension data and prepare required reports for the division chairs/department managers and other administrators for both undergraduate programs and graduate level programs.
Student Support
- Assist in processing student forms (e.g., grade change forms, waivers, etc.)
- Assist with Commencement and other graduation activities.
- Assist in greeting students, faculty, and staff who come to the office and help resolve issues and problems that arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Academic Records and Registrar.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology or related field.
- Expertise in research, data collection, and assessment required.
- Expertise in use of database and spreadsheet applications required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of institutional research methods, assessment, and accompanying technologies.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in use of Microsoft Access, SQL, or other database technologies, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines with ability to organize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree.
- Experience with administration or use of learning management software, such as Brightspace for assessment, and familiarity with a student information system, such as Ellucian software.
- Expertise in effectively presenting to a group and training others.
- Prior experience in an academic records office or institutional research office.
WORK HOURS/CONDITIONS:
FLSA Category: Exempt
Salary Range: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 / Annually
Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
