The Campus is a 30-acre, urban medical and bioscience campus with more than 1.7 million square-feet of biomedical-related research, academic, and clinical facilities with plans for more. It is the only site where you will find all 3 of Arizona's public.
We are seeking career minded candidates to apply for our open General Maintenance Mechanic position. The qualified candidate will be a good communicator and team player with a strong background in building maintenance.
We are looking for individuals with a strong understanding of the customer service skills needed in this industry, to repair and maintain machinery, plumbing, physical structure and electrical wiring and fixtures. The selected candidate must be flexible and adaptable as the environment is evolving and fast-paced. Work shift to include swing shift, some weekends and holidays.

Duties & Responsibilities
Perform general preventative maintenance using a variety of equipment and handles tasks that are not complex enough to need the specialized training of a licensed tradesperson, such as a plumber or electrician.
Performs minor repairs on on various building items and equipment under supervision. Assists with duties including patch and paint, flooring, lighting, event activity set-up, delivery of materials, and the clean-up of shop and work areas. Provides general maintenance and repair work on heating/cooling and ventilation equipment such as exhaust fans, air handlers, cooling and heating coils, air filters, evaporative coolers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, electric motors, bearings, and all types of pumps.
Operates forklifts, dollies and other basic loading and unloading equipment as required.
Drives trucks to transport materials such as supplies, or equipment as required.
Services equipment by oiling, greasing and adding gas as required.
Provides preventive maintenance activities, diagnoses malfunctions of mechanical equipment.
Maintains records of repairs and equipment requiring future service.
Uses power and hand tools to perform repair and maintenance work.
Will assist our facilities teams with other fixing and maintaining of equipment on campus. Assisting our Pl.umber, Electrician, and HVAC leads.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Requires working on roofs, in attics, on ladders in extreme temperatures.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required. In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
- Experience with large air handling equipment.
- Experience with pumps of all types.
- Experience with air compressors and vacuum pumps.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
