Job Description

The Mobile Educator will be responsible for implementing the Idaho Museum of Natural History (IMNH) informal education curriculum primarily offsite at community partner locations.

This is a 9 month position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel and implement mobile curricula based on the current IMNH mobile traveling exhibit
  • Assist the Education Manager in scheduling of offsite outreach events
  • Assist the Education Manager with staffing two major community events put on by the museum (spring and fall) each year
  • Assist with staffing of major partner-led educational programming throughout the year
  • Collect participant data that will be compiled for state-mandated reporting
  • Assist the Education Manager with management of the mobile exhibits
  • May assist with the development of new curricula for the mobile exhibits
  • Logging vehicle data to ensure proper vehicle maintenance by the ISU motor pool
  • Other duties as assigned by the Education Manager or the Museum Director
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (in lieu of a bachelor's degree, a minimum of six years combined education, training, and experience may be considered)
  • Valid driver's license
  • At least one (1) year experience enthusiastically engaging K-12 students with natural history content
  • Ability to work independently
  • Comfortable with road travel and operation of vehicles with limited visibility
  • Comfortable with working in remote/rural locations away from direct IMNH support
  • Ability to problem solve
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in a natural history subject area, education, or museum/library studies
  • Two or more years experience implementing K-12 curriculum in a formal or informal setting
  • Experience in a museum, library, or equivalent setting
  • Knowledge of Idaho state education standards
  • Experience working with education in remote or rural settings
Additional Information

Salary will be $41,590 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
