Join the University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT) as an Instructional Designer II, where you'll partner with instructors to create innovative, accessible online learning experiences. You'll apply expert course design principles and evidence-based instructional strategies to develop effective online courses.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with instructors to design and develop online courses that promote student engagement and critical thinking
  • Create accessible, interactive learning materials that support diverse learning needs and contexts
  • Build dynamic online learning environments that foster student community and collaboration
  • Guide multimedia development including storyboarding and content production
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure educational excellence
  • Contribute to advancing instructional design practices through professional development and collaboration

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in online course design and development using instructional design principles and models
  • Strong project management abilities to handle multiple course development projects
  • Experience applying quality assurance frameworks in online course development
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and universal design principles for online learning
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and subject matter experts
  • Proficiency in learning management systems and educational technology tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for developing course content and consulting with stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop innovative learning solutions
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Quality Matters or similar quality assurance frameworks
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, video editing, or graphic design

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field-Experience working with instructors in higher education
  • Demonstrated expertise with learning management systems and instructional technology tools
  • Experience with innovative learning approaches (adaptive learning, micro-credentialing, gamification)
  • Experience with Brightspace LMS and common authoring tools (Storyline, Captivate)

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
