Job Description

The purpose of this position is to establish and provide outpatient physical therapy services in the Idaho State University Physical Therapy Clinic in Pocatello, ID. The primary referral source will be ISU Sports Medicine, with a focus on providing rehabilitative care to student athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate individualized care plans, provide evidence-based therapeutic rehabilitative services, and educate of student-athletes, patients, and caregivers
  • Maintain proper documentation, accurate billing, and timely communication with the interdisciplinary sports medicine care team
  • Actively participate in ISU Athletics team rounds and sports medicine team meetings
  • Assist with sporting event coverage as necessary, depending on credentials and caseload
  • Support clinic growth through strategic marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate in the development, planning, and implementation of a Center for Sports Rehabilitation and a Sports Residency Program
  • Provide mentorship and clinical practicum opportunities for students in the Physical Therapy and Athletic Training Programs
  • Communicate regularly with the Practicum Coordinator(s) and/or Clinic Director regarding student progress
  • Complete required compliance training (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA) and adhere to payer requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance)
  • Maintain current licensure and advocate for patient care excellence
  • Professional and timely communication with other members of the care team
  • Proper and prompt documentation
  • Appropriate, expedient and accurate billing
  • Required compliance training (including HIPAA, FERPA, and other)
  • Abiding by all payer requirements including Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances
  • Advocating for patients
  • Support the marketing and growth of clinic services
  • Working with students in the Physical Therapy Program, Athletic Training Program, and other learners by providing clinical practicum opportunities for experience interacting with patients
  • Assist with sporting event coverage as necessary depending on credentials and caseload
  • Assist with the development, planning, and implementation of a center for sports rehabilitation and a sports residency program
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the Department Chair or Director of Sports Medicine
  • Maintain a flexible 40-hour workweek to accommodate the needs of student-athletes, patient care, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Within two years, generate clinic revenue to cover at least the cost of salary and benefits
  • Mentor and guide students during clinic practicums, provide regular updates on individual progress to the Practicum Coordinator(s) and/or Clinic Director
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed physical therapist with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Sports Certification or dually licensed as a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer
  • License to practice in Idaho (or ability to obtain a license to practice in the State of Idaho within 30 days of employment)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy (i.e. DPT)
  • Master's degree in Athletic Training
  • Minimum of five years of clinical practice with at least three years in sport medicine
  • Evidence of clinical teaching experience
  • Certified in dry needling or willing to obtain certification within 3 months of starting employment
Additional Information

Salary will be $85,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
